My latest vlog gives you a sneak peek into my weekend, where I’ve attended a twerk class, a photo shoot coordinated by Black Girls Who Collaborate; a millennials networking group for women of color, and also an event called Currently Creating; which was a networking event for creative millennials. Let It Go

img_1715“Your time keeps flying away into vanity while you dine with your distractions. Your life keeps diminishing while you waste your time feeding your distractions.” – Sunday Adelaja

When I was much younger, I would always tell myself that I never wanted to be like one of those adults who said that they wish they had done something in their life and didn’t. You know, those people who talk about how they could’ve gone to the the NBA if they had spent more time focusing on the big picture instead of worrying about goofing off with friends, or those people who regret that they didn’t move to that big city to pursue their dream career instead of staying around for that partner who wasn’t good for them anyway? Strength of a Woman

“A strong woman builds her own world. She is one who is wise enough to know that it will attract the man she will gladly share it with” –Ellen J. Barrier

Has anyone ever heard a man describe what they feel would be their ideal woman? I’m sure at some point or another in the early stages of dating, we all have. One quality always stuck out in particular, because I always hear men say that this is what they want, but I question whether they really want this or if it just sounds good in conversation? The quality that I’m talking about, if you haven’t guessed it already based on the title of this post, is strength. Continue reading “Strength of a Woman”

The Millennial Dating Life

I’ve been with the same person for the past four years, so I might be off base with my belief that the act of dating in my generation is hella confusing and may even be non-existent, however, after talking with my best friend, who’s freshly back on the market, I realized that my thoughts might not be too far fetched. I genuinely feel like no one goes on dates anymore. Do these guys even know what an actual date is? Continue reading “The Millennial Dating Life”

This past weekend, my fiancé and I decided to go and see the new Taraji P. Henson movie, Acrimony, and I couldn’t help but leave the movie theater feeling a little torn. I absolutely don’t want to give too many spoilers away, but if you’ve seen the previews, then what I’m about to say won’t come as too much of a surprise to you. Continue reading “Acrimony”

Small Doses

So, I’ve been listening to Amanda Seales’ podcast pretty often lately and she is HILARIOUS! You may know her from replacing the other girl in Floetry, not Marsha Ambrosius, maybe you know her from Insecure as Issa’s bougie friend who’s not really a friend or you may know her as the girl who called Kaitlyn Jenner out on her views about Trump and America. If you don’t, you should go to her Instagram page and watch a few of her videos, and I promise you’ll love her just from that! Check out her Breakfast Club interviews as well, smart and always funny.

Beating Bushes

“Be simple. Be direct. Be clear. Don’t worry about being correct. Worry about being real.”- Jill Telford

I grew up in a household with a single mom who spoke her mind. She told it like it was, said it as she saw it, called you out on your ish regardless if it was good or bad. It wasn’t like she was doing it to be mean, but she’s just a direct person and that’s a part of her personality. Continue reading “Beating Bushes”

There has been a recent spike in the number of women coming forward with sexual allegations against some of the world’s most powerful men. Sad, right? I recently had a conversation with someone about it. It starts off with him saying, “Did you hear about all of these sexual allegations in the media?” I say, “Yeah, it’s crazy.” He goes, “Yeah, they’re coming out every day saying someone assaulted them. Is this the new thing? That’s crazy.” Continue reading “#MeToo”
