I Miss the Old Kanye

In the year of 2010, you couldn’t tell me that Kanye West was not one of the greatest rappers of all time. I loved the artistry in his music, his style, his flow, and the fact that he was unlike any rapper that I’ve seen prior to his debut. He was the rapper that most politicians and white people hated, mostly because he said what all black people were thinking but he didn’t give AF about how he did it. I guess you can say that he was sort of like that one person that we all know who will say anything to anyone, regardless of how uncomfortable it makes them feel. That person will tell the truth without holding back. That person was Kanye. Continue reading “I Miss the Old Kanye”

No Struggle? No Progress.

It’s been a month or so since I’ve last attended church, but my fiancee’ and I were determined to go this past Sunday. It’s selfish of us to believe that God will speak to you and you only every Sunday that you step into the sanctuary, but I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older that the message isn’t always meant specifically for me. Sometimes God gives us messages to pass along to the people in our lives or strangers that we spark up a conversation with in the coffee shop. Continue reading “No Struggle? No Progress.”

Let It Go

img_1715“Your time keeps flying away into vanity while you dine with your distractions. Your life keeps diminishing while you waste your time feeding your distractions.” – Sunday Adelaja

When I was much younger, I would always tell myself that I never wanted to be like one of those adults who said that they wish they had done something in their life and didn’t. You know, those people who talk about how they could’ve gone to the the NBA if they had spent more time focusing on the big picture instead of worrying about goofing off with friends, or those people who regret that they didn’t move to that big city to pursue their dream career instead of staying around for that partner who wasn’t good for them anyway?
